Why do you think the community has only one person who receives memories? What is the relationship between memory and pain? Or, between memory and wisdom?
The community has just one person who receives memories because this is part of the controling of pain because memories can produce pain and the community wants to avoid pain but memories also teach you to be better and learn from other experiences so one is selected to keep the memories to learn from the past and keep the pain away from the community.
