The Giver, Chapter 7

Why do you think "precision of language" is so important to the community?

I think that if they want a perfect community they must have a "perfect lenguage". Also, they might think that if they say a word that it's incorrect or exagerate it could be a problem to the community beacuse that can cause feelings in persons and that is not allowed for any of them.

I think that they want to set a well-ordered, well-spoken community, perfect place. They do not want to have any children who lack speech ability.

You both have picked up on major themes in the community: keeping order and monitoring feelings.

I think in the same way that Ana because they love the perfection. So if they don't speak well they are broken the rules.

I think that they are trying to control everything in the community, such as the feelings and the spoken way , they don’t want anyone to be different, nobody can be out of the rules, so this has to be controlled to.
